$1 is cost worthy to satisfy the curiosity. I recently bought a few of those cards in NM condition just for the novelty factor. They don't say reprint on the cards but obviously they are.

Cool Blog! I look at my sets from the early '70's and the cards in this type of condition always get a 2nd look, which is fun. I remember one summer afternoon in the mid-70's I turned all my Hostess cards into "teepees"! I bent all of them in half and placed them on my bed and thought they were "teepees"! I would never do that to a Topps card, but poor 'ol Hostess cards with the Twinkee stain on the stats was always fair game!!!

Why anyone would want a gem mint version of this card over the one you've got is beyond me! This card is evidence of the joy behind collecting, of the game, and being a kid! What other possible reason could someone have for buying a baseball card?

Mostly what other people said. T206 cards have crept up over the years to ~$10, but something you still find the thrashed ones for $4 or $5.

$10 for a card like that is perfectly acceptable, I would do it. It is an old piece of history. Baseball cards in general give me a lot of enjoyment, so I don't mind spending some money for the old ones.

If I see a T-206 for $10, I but it. I think I may have found one in pretty rough condition for $5, but that is pretty rare. I think I have 5 or 6 at this point and love every one of them.

I'll take 2 T-206 cards over a blaster any day. And I think Tom Downey is actually a somewhat big name.

In general my top price range for an individual card is $20-$30 I don't see paying anymore than that unless it is a rarer card of one of my very favorite players from one of my favorite teams, an older vintage of vintage card, Or Possibly a Huge big named super HOFer like Ruth or Mantle.

I was searching the Internet hoping to find someone selling old, beatup baseball cards. I just wanted to find something real, you know? Not all of those unopened, encased in plastic, commodities bought and sold like poor man stocks. How is that a beat to hell Willie Mays isn't worth a billion times more than a mint Bonds rookie?
