“Let me see if I got this right. You buy low grade
beat up cards and feature them on your blog.
That’s awesome. Totally different than all the
other blogs I have seen featuring the nicest cards.”

POBC contest cards, Week 1
Let the contest begin...
Here are the five cards I will be giving away over the next five weeks:
1. 1958 All Star Warren Spahn
2. 1969 Roberto Clemente
3. 1973 Willie Mays
4. 1974 Hank Aaron
5. 1975 Reggie Jackson
All you need to do is comment to win. On Monday, May 5th, I will award the Warren Spahn card to my favorite comment during the next week.
In order to win, your user ID you comment with must have an email address associated with it. After notifying the winner via email, the winner has until midnight on the next Sunday (Pacific time) to claim their prize. So the first winner must reply by May 11 to win.
Sorry but you cannot win if you comment anonymously. You can comment on any posting during the life of the blog.
I will also mention the winner via a posting on this blog but winners must contact me via email and not with more comments to claim the prize.
I hope this all makes sense. Any questions feel free to email me at anthtara (at) gmail.com.
By the way, these are all Poor Old Baseball Cards. All original. No reprints. These are real cards made during the player's playing days. And the all have creases, writing, folds and any number of issues that make them poor.
Good luck everyone.

oh man... I'd give up a kidney for that Spahnnie.
Captain - I'd give up both your kidneys for the Spahnie.
love the beaters!
I like the mays alot
I to, collect non mint; non graded; in poor / fair / good condition; well loved; old baseball cards. Just what I always wanted. My own little Warren Spahn card. I will name him George, and I will hug him and pet him and squeeze him and put him in a sleeve and display him proudly with the others HOFer's :0b
Mr Spahn would be a very welcomed card to my collection.

The Clemente is awesome!
I found this site via an ESPN article...what a fantastic idea! I was a card collector for much of my childhood and my favorite part to this day is just looking through my cards. I quit collecting when condition became so important that you had to have everything verified by a third party in order for it to have value. The '75 Reggie Jackson would be a fantastic addition to my Bob Gibson and Robin Yount cards of the same year!
I love the cards form that Era. I love the Reggie Card with the two tone border. The Clemente card looks like it was run over by some kids mom.
Back when 500 homers, 300 hits and 300 wins were untainted. Ironically, only the cards' condition isn't perfect. Things of beauty, though.
This is cool!
