How much would you pay for a genuine 102-year-old baseball card with a corner missing?
It seems that over the last few years I am buying all my baseball cards in a bubble. All I want are poor old baseball cards, the worse the better. And because of that I wonder whether the cards I am buying are worth it.
Of course they are worth it for personal reasons, but are they worth the money I am spending on them? Sometimes I wonder.
This card cost me $10 ($9 +$1 shipping on eBay).
A few other things you can buy for $10: A little more than two gallons of gas in California; lunch; a ticket to the movies.
When you compare it to some things, maybe a piece of Americana is worth a ten-spot.

In general my top price range for an individual card is $20-$30 I don't see paying anymore than that unless it is a rarer card of one of my very favorite players from one of my favorite teams, an older vintage of vintage card, Or Possibly a Huge big named super HOFer like Ruth or Mantle.
I've paid as little as $4, as much as $40 for a Charles "Chief" Bender that was in great shape on the front, significant paper loss on the back.
$10 is definitely worth it.
If I see a T-206 for $10, I but it. I think I may have found one in pretty rough condition for $5, but that is pretty rare. I think I have 5 or 6 at this point and love every one of them.
I'll take 2 T-206 cards over a blaster any day. And I think Tom Downey is actually a somewhat big name.
$10 for a card like that is perfectly acceptable, I would do it. It is an old piece of history. Baseball cards in general give me a lot of enjoyment, so I don't mind spending some money for the old ones.
Mostly what other people said. T206 cards have crept up over the years to ~$10, but something you still find the thrashed ones for $4 or $5.
That isn't a bad price. I bought a couple whose edges were trimmed off for $4 each.
$10 is perfectly acceptable for the card you purchased.

I believe $10 would be my limit.
You make a good point. $10 is about what I'd spend on mundane things such as a mediocre lunch, a couple gallons of gas and underwear. For a piece of history, and for something that still gives me goosebumps whenever I stop to take a glance, $10 is most certainly worth it.
